Bending 1 8 steel plate.

I have no idea how i m going to do that yet. Half inch x 12 inch plate rolling and bending to make pipe strap. I d like to make a couple of brackets out of 1 8 or 3 16 most bending brakes can t bend such thick metal. Thick grade 350 and 400 may have a minimum bend radius of 2 5 times the material thickness when transverse bending while longitudinal bending may require a minimum bend radius that s 3 75 times the material thickness.

This is a piece of thick x 12 wide carbon steel plate that has been cut to size rolled and bent to make a pipe strap or pipe support. It needs a z bend in it offsetting the reversing lever by 1 4. I ve tried the bench vise adjustable crescent wrench method but the bends come out rounder than i d like. Divide 50 by the material s reduction percentage as specified by the material supplier subtract by 1 and then multiply by the plate thickness.

I should imagine that 1 8 will need some pounding to do that or plenty heat.
